Abebech’s Story
Many of you know about and generously supported our #GivetoKorah fundraiser over the summer. Our goal was to raise emergency funds to get much-needed food into the hands of each of our OA Students and their families as they faced a famine in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. By the end of our fundraiser, we raised enough money for up to six months of food for our families should they need it.
The first three months of food were distributed to our families in August. Of the many testimonies that came to us after the food was distributed, the following story touched our hearts. We knew it would bless yours as well.
This is Abebech’s Story, in her own words:
“I am Abebech, Tsega and Tsion’s mom. I am so happy about the food support I received today. May God bless you all who are involved in this!
I pray about Covid, for God to protect us and keep all of us safe. I am so happy and grateful for the food support. I am hopeful as my children complete their studies and graduate next year. I pray about them too.
I want to bless the people who supported us, both the OA team in the U.S. and here in the country office. I express my sincere gratitude to all of you! God bless you all!
My biggest wish for my children is to finish their studies, become self-sufficient, and support other people in need. Because they know how they grew up. I pray for them to learn to share and to give what they have.
I pray for my kids to be fruitful and our country Ethiopia to be blessed. For our country, not to remain a recipient always but to be a giver, too. I never cease praying.
To your surprise, it was just yesterday that I prayed to God and showed him my empty vessel, my dried oil pot, when I ran out of oil. I lifted and showed him my vessel. I asked him to look towards me and my empty container.
I told him, “My kids and I would be eating with water only as of the next day,” unless he intervened because the little money I had could not cover anything else beyond my house rent. Now, he gave me in folds. I am filled with joy. I am not speaking this just for people, but also for God.
Finally, I would like to bless OA’s people, both the local staff and those abroad. The local staff has been serving us tirelessly with respect. The OA team in the US has always been on our side.
God bless all of you! Be blessed in folds! May your cup be overflowed with blessings! May God bless your family, offspring, and ages to come! Remain as givers, never be recipients!”
God is so good and continues to bless Korah in so many ways. Thank you for your faithful support and love.
Many Blessings,
The OA team
