✨ Feeling Chosen: Eyerus’ Story of Sponsorship and Hope ✨

Fifteen-year-old Eyerus joined Out of the Ashes’ Sponsorship Program seven months ago hoping simply to get support to stay in school. What she found was something even greater — a sense of belonging!

In January 2026, during the donors’ trip, she was matched with her personal sponsors after they visited her home and heard her story. Although OA had already been meeting her school needs, having a personal sponsor felt different. To Eyerus, it meant being chosen — knowing someone saw her, cared for her, and wanted to walk alongside her.

OA’s support — including school fees, supplies, tutorials, clothing, lunch assistance, and academic follow-up — has lifted a tremendous burden from her shoulders and from her family. With her father living away due to health challenges and her mother unable to work consistently, OA is now their only steady support system.

Eyerus believes deeply in the power of education, especially for girls in Ethiopia. Through sponsorship, training, and girls’ club activities, she is gaining confidence and dreaming bigger for her future. With the belief of her sponsor and the support of OA, Eyerus is walking forward with hope — a reminder that sponsorship is more than educational support; it is the gift of being seen, valued, and chosen!
